In Cricova, just a few kilometres from Chișinău, there is a place where glass is transformed into unique works of art — GlassWare Art Studio, the workshop of folk craftsman Nicolai Protenco.

Nicolai Protenco is recognised as the only folk craftsman in the Republic of Moldova who masters the art of working with Murano glass, turning his passion for this craft into a unique cultural and creative experience for visitors.

At the studio, pieces of glass are heated and fused together at high temperatures using the fusing technique, creating unique handmade pieces. His creations include glassware such as plates, serving dishes and fruit bowls, as well as clocks, decorative objects and jewellery. Each piece is distinguished by its original shape and combination of colours.
