SUSDEST-NET

SUSDEST-NET Project is a joint initiative by six partners from Greece, Bulgaria, Romania, Moldova, and Türkiye aimed at promoting sustainable tourism across the Black Sea Basin. The project addresses challenges such as overtourism, environmental degradation, lack of infrastructure, and absence of coordinated governance.

🔹 Main objective: to promote ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) principles in 5 pilot tourist destinations through the creation of Destination Management Committees (DMCs) and implementation of sustainable practices.

🔹 Key deliverables (2025–2028):

  1. Joint policy on sustainable tourism and local strategies for each destination.

  2. A modular training package (e-learning), case studies, and hands-on exercises.

  3. AI-based monitoring and recommendation system (AIREMS) and a Sustainable Destination Observatory.

  4. SDEC – an online education and collaboration platform.

  5. Pilot implementations using the RADAR methodology in each destination.

  6. Sustainability Award Scheme to recognize best practices.

  7. Targeted marketing and participation in international tourism fairs.

🔹 Total budget: €1,415,719.10
🔸 EU contribution: 90% (€1,274,147.15)
🔸 Partner contribution: 10% (€141,571.95)

Chișinău Municipality will implement the project with a budget of €223,245.22, of which €200,920.69 will be reimbursed from EU funds via the lead partner – Kavala Municipality (Greece).

The project fosters:

  • blue economy development;

  • conservation of natural and cultural heritage;

  • community involvement in tourism governance;

  • the creation of the SUSDEST-NET network to ensure long-term impact and transferability.
