Lidia Lipkovski (1884 Babino village, Hotin county- 1958 Beirut, Lebanon) is the only Basarabian who has performed in Latin America, New Zealand, Jawa Island and the Philippine Islands and on the biggest stages of the world: Paris, Landra New York, Boston, Montreal, Berlin, Vienna, Rome, Milan, Sydney, Hurbin, Tokyo, Melbourn, Beijing, that after her tours you could study geography.

But she did not hesitate to perform in small halls in Bessarabia: Hotin, Balti, Soroca, White Fortress, Orhei, Reni and of course in the two provincial capitals: Chernivtsi and Chisinau.

The world press praised her, famous writers dedicated verses and articles to her. Her operatic repertoire included 60 operas, she sang under the baton of great conductors, and had Fiodor Șaleapin, Enrico Caruso and other famous opera singers as her stage partners.

In 1909 she undertook her first foreign tour, being invited to Paris by the famous impresario Sergei Diaghilev, who had inaugurated the Russian Stages in France, where she tasted great glory. She travels to America, where she performs with the famous Caruso at the Metropolitan Theatre.

In 1937 she ended her artistic career and became a singing teacher at the Chisinau Conservatory until 1941. When the political regimes were competing in cruelties and wars, she sat down to write and left us an enormous manuscript of memoirs, which is kept at the National Archive of Moldova.

She died in Beirut, Lebanon, where she was buried in 1958.
