On March 26, 2026, a rural pilot tourist route was organized in order to test and validate a new tourism product developed within the “People Powered Tourism” project.

This initiative promotes the development of sustainable tourism by leveraging local heritage, engaging communities, and supporting folk artisans, local entrepreneurs, and initiatives from the suburbs of Chișinău municipality. The pilot route, which included approximately 10 km of walking and 50 km by minibus, highlighted relevant examples of responsible tourism through direct interaction with local producers, artisans, and initiatives that valorize the cultural and gastronomic heritage of local communities.

This activity represents an important step in the development of a sustainable rural tourism product, aimed at creating authentic experiences and contributing to the support of the local economy. Students from the Faculty of Economic Sciences, Department of Economics, Marketing and Tourism of the Moldova State University participated in the validation of the pilot route.
